Oregon Coast to Boise Day 3 Wednesday September 11, 2019

Today starts in Coos Bay, Oregon
And finishes in Astoria, Oregon

Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes
In Coos Bay, I was awakened at 6:00AM by an alarm clock
some previous guest had thoughtfully set for me
The room was still horribly smelly and I was anxious to go
A nice warm shower helped boost my mood
Starting out, the weather was clear
In fact, all day, there was none of the heavy fog from yesterday

But it was rather cool. Starting out it was about 60 degrees

Fewer photos this morning because I was wearing cool weather
gloves which do not work with the camera
 I stopped in Florence

Lane County Justice Court 900 Greenwood St
They have drive-by voting in Lane County

Florence Justice Center

I was not able to stop at the Senior Center to see if they had pool tables
YachatsLincoln CountyOregon
is a nice little town right on the coast with a distinct new age aura

City Hall

There was a sign for "Bread and Roses" and I thought a pastry would be nice
Alas, they are on vacation and will return in a few days
DePoe Bay is a little town right on the bay.

The ocean waters are right across from the main street (US-101).

If a tsunami comes, they will be among the first to know.

I planned to stop in Depoe Bay to wander around in
the many, schlockie tourist-trap shops.

But, as I rode through, I saw about 258 cars
vying for the 123 parking spots
Yes, I carefully counted them...

I would have taken photos to display here
so that you could check my counts,
but in traffic, both my hands are busy
with throttle, brake, and clutch
and I m not also able to operate the camera

So you just have to trust my totals.
Lincoln City

Lincoln City Hall

In almost all the towns many flags were flying in rememberence of 9/11

Lincoln County

I parked kind of sideways due to the slope of the road.
Right next to city hall, that may have not been smart
if a cop or a politician noticed and took exception
Just south of Tillamook is an air museum
it is located in an old blimp hanger identical to one at Moffett in Sunnyvale

I have been there 3 times before and it suffers from a lack of funds
I did not stop
In Tillamook, I headed directly to the Tillamook Cheese Factory

I have been there 3 times before.
The first time, all was well although the restaurant was a real mess
The second time, they were revamping the visitor center and
the factory tour was not available
This time, all was finished and the tour was back

Up the stairs, self guided

Milk to cheese and then packaging

These photos were taken through tinted glass windows and had a distinct
yellowish cast.  Fortunately, Photoshop was able to correct the colors
Thank goodness for those windows sealing the factory floors,
some of those workers were constantly cutting the cheese

The tour leads to the gift shop.
And a food place, of course, I had a grilled cheese sandwich
Seaside city hall and fire department

Maybe next time...
Wallenton Walmart for some cookies and a packaged salad for dinner
Astoria, Clatsop County, Oregon
After having trouble finding a room last night, I made
a reservation at Best Western Bayfront Inn
555 Hamburg Ave
It was hard to find, nestled back along a long, narrow driveway
